    Marriott posts 5.3% rise in ME, Africa 2012 occupancy rate

    (MENAFN) Marriott International, Middle East and Africa, president and managing director, Alex Kyriakidis, announced that in 2012, the hotelier's regional occupancy level rose by 5.3 percent in 2012, reported Arabian Business. Kyriakidis added that revenue per available room (RevPAR) grew by 8.3 percent. He added that the company's announcement of 5 new property signings in the region would raise the number of rooms by 1,027. In 2013, the group will launch the 186-room Rabat Marriott Hotel in Morocco, whereas in 2015, it will open the 18-room Constantine Marriott Hotel in Algeria and the 210-room Courtyard by Marriott Riyadh North in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, in 2016, the hotelier will launch the 300-room JW Marriott Casablanca in Morocco and the 150-room Lagos Marriott Hotel in Nigeria. It is worth noting that in 2012, Marriott opened the Courtyard by Marriott Diplomatic Quarter, Marriott Executive Apartments Riyadh Makarim, and the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai.
