Qatar's Ooredoo plans to obtain license in Myanmar

(MENAFN) Ooredoo's CEO, Nasser Marifih, announced that the telecommunications operator is eyeing a license in South-East Asia's Myanmar, reported Arabian Business. Marifih added that the company, formerly known as Qatar Telecom, has the financial capability to make such a move. On the other hand, he noted that the firm managed to raise nearly USD12 billion in financing to back its bid to obtain a majority stake in Maroc Telecom, owned at the current time by France's Vivendi. It is worth noting that UAE's Etisalat is also bidding to acquire Vivendi's stake, with reports saying that the telecom operator sought USD8 billion of loans for its bid.
