Emirates, Qatar Air aim at boosting traffic rights in India

(MENAFN) President of Emirates Airline, Tim Clark, and CEO of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker, stated that the two firms are eying more traffic rights in India, reported Arabian Business. Clark and Al Baker said that the expansion plans followed UAE rival Etihad Airways' gaining additional traffic rights in India after purchasing a 24 percent stake in Jet Airways. Clark explained that Emirates Airline has been requesting the Indian government for 5 years to allow the airline to secure additional traffic rights to its 54,200 seats per week to India but has not been allowed by the government. Al Baker stated that his company is interested in further expansion in India and looks forward to it if the government agrees.
