    Trade exchanges between Dubai, Chile up 2% in 2012

    (MENAFN) Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Butti Ahmed, stated that the volume of trade exchanges between Dubai and the Republic of Chile grew by 2% year on year to USD167.39 million in 2012, reported Emirates 24/7. The Director General of Dubai Customs also said that Dubai's imports from Chile in the same year amounted to USD109.14 million. He added that timber, foods, fresh fruits, cigarettes and tobacco were the majority of the imports. Ahmed also added that the majority of Dubai's exports and re-exports to Chile were building structures and materials, textiles, trucks and passengers transport buses, standing at USD58.24 million. It is worth noting that representatives of both countries discussed in a meeting opportunities in several areas that are supported by the open economic policy adopted by the UAE and the Republic of Chile as well as the diversified economic base in the two sides.
