Raytheon close to seal USD1.5b deal with Oman

(MENAFN) US defense firm Raytheon Co said it is close to seal a significant deal with Oman that would help keep the company's international sales strong in 2013, Reuters reported. Chief Financial Officer David Wajsgras said that the negotiations were about selling the Sultanate an air-defense system. The deal is valued at around USD1.5 billion. US Secretary of State John Kerry flew to Oman in May for Raytheon's signing of an arms deal to purchase a ground-based air defense system that would help protect against cruise missile, drone or fighter aircraft attacks. Raytheon CEO Bill Swanson said that Raytheon is also making good progress on several other large international sales, including missile defense systems to Qatar and Kuwait.
