Saudi agriculture and food sectors expand

(MENAFN) Due to the increasing population and consumer spending in Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom's agriculture and food sectors are expected to expand by 18.5 percent yearly. The food sector in the gulf kingdom holds almost 50 percent of the local retail market, Saudi Gazette reported. Under the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture and the accreditation of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), the Saudi Agriculture 2013 and Saudi Agro-Food 2013 exhibitions will be held at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre in the period between September 15th and 18th. The exhibitions will draw traders from around the globe and provide the Saudi government with possible solutions to its expanding demand on food products. Assistant general manager at the Riyadh Exhibitions Company, Zeyad Al Rukban, said, ï¿½These are crucial times as far as the Kingdomï¿½s agriculture and food sectors are concerned. Saudi food requirements are rising to an all-time high, the government is intensifying efforts to come up with sound food security measures, and consumers with increasing spending power are demanding more diversity and quality. Saudi Agriculture 2013 and its associated events offer a timely, strategic meeting place to discuss and address vital issues, find out the latest and best trade solutions, and direct sustained and efficient industry growth.ï¿½
