    Indonesia's Wika plans USD1.1b Makkah hotel complex

    (MENAFN) Indonesia state-run constructions firm Wijaya Karya (Wika) unveiled plans to develop an estimated USD1.1 billion hotel complex in Makkah, Jakarta Globe reported. The project includes 7 towers, each costing USD157 million and accommodating up to 1,000 rooms, the Indonesian daily said. Wika operational director Destiawan Soewardjono is also reported to have said that work to find a Saudi partner for the construction of the hotel is already underway, with potential companies set to travel to Indonesia soon to review the local company's construction methods and standards. Makkah is currently witnessing unprecedented construction of hotels activity as international operators are looking to tap the multi-billion dollar religious tourism industry.
