Middle East passenger traffic soar 7.8 percent in July

(MENAFN) Passenger traffic for airlines in the Middle East region increased by 7.8 percent year-on-year in July registering the highest growth in the world, Times of Oman reported. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said that the growth slowed from June when passenger traffic soared 12.1 percent year-on-year. The association cited the slower rate to the usual lower demand in the month of Ramadan. "In 2013, Ramadan spanned most of July whereas in 2012, it occurred mostly in August. Capacity growth of 10.5 per cent sent load factors down two percentage points to 78.3 per cent," IATA report said.
