    Dubai to launch first regional e-commerce free zone Dubai CommerCity

    (MENAFN) Chairman of the Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (Dafza), Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, launched Dubai CommerCity on Saturday, which is a Dh2.7-billion, 2.1-million square feet joint venture between Dafza and wasl Asset Management Group, according to a statement from WAM.

    Located in the Umm Ramool area, Dubai CommerCity became the first free zone dedicated to e-commerce in the Middle East & North Africa region.

    It is well intended to promote Dubai's spot as a leading platform for international e-commerce and to support economic diversification and smart transformation strategies.

    The project is expected to reach USD20b in 2020 in the GCC countries, which will speed up the growth of the e-commerce market.
