VAT implementation in Oman rescheduled until 2019

(MENAFN) Omani media reported the value-added tax (VAT) implementation to have been delayed until 2019 by Oman's Ministry of Finance.

Starting mid-2018, products that include soft drinks and tobacco are to be taxed, according to the Times of Oman citing sources.

The holdup, the newspaper reported, is estimated to offer Oman businesses an additional time to effectively get ready for the implementation.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE were the only confirmed countries to be all set to implement VAT, even though the entire GCC states initially accepted its implementation to be in January.
