    Israel's businesses, jobs post 3-percent boost in 2017

    (MENAFN) Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics has unveiled the number of businesses in the country to have recorded a 3.1 percent rise, while the number of jobs posted a 3.3 percent increase.

    A total number of 583,000 businesses have operated in Israel last year alone, as shown in the bureau's report on business demography.

    The bureau revealed the majority of businesses to have been small ones, with 67 percent, or 392,200, being self-employed businesses.

    The report said that 57,000 new businesses have been established in the country in 2017, while 43,200 businesses have been shut down.

    It also said that the country registered 3.92 million workers in 2017, with 519,300 employed at major sectors including wholesale and retail, as well as repair of motor vehicles businesses.
