Lebanon's airport jumps 8.32 percent in passenger traffic

(MENAFN) Lebanon's Rafic Hariri International Airport has registered an 8.32 percent boost in the number of its passengers to reach 4.8 million from January to July this year.

Speaking to Xinhua, an airport source explained "this rise is caused by an increase in the number of expatriates arriving in Lebanon in addition to Syrians coming from Turkey and other European countries."

The source further noted that "there are also tourists mainly from Europe and the Gulf."
Passenger traffic at the airport posted a 5 percent boost in July, to stand at 1,022,467 passengers, a statement said.

It added "this prompted Lebanese authorities and security officials to look for ways that would minimize travel procedures for passengers especially prior to the pilgrimage period."
