Qatar's account balance sees 3.8 percent surplus in 2017

(MENAFN) Qatar was unveiled by its central bank to have seen a recovery in its account balance, as it registered a surplus of QR23.4 billion last year, from a deficit of QR30.1 billion in the previous year.

Qatar Central Bank explained the rebound to have been driven by the stability seen in global energy prices, bringing back the surplus position that Qatar was able to preserve for almost two decades ahead of 2016.

Qatar's surplus was confirmed to have reached 3.8 percent in 2017, compared to a deficit which stood at 5.4 percent in 2016.

The trade account surplus of the country was also said to have seen a boost to reach QR133.7 billion last year, a 44.8 percent jump from QR92.4 billion in the previous year.
