Lebanon's airport records unprecedented boost in passenger traffic

(MENAFN) Lebanon's Rafic Hariri International Airport (RHIA) has reportedly recorded an unprecedented rise in its passenger traffic, standing at 552,000 during the first half of August.

El Markazia news agency reported "the total flights during this period reached 3,995 from and to Lebanon, with the number of passenger arrivals rising to 266,564 and 286,101 for departures."

The Lebanese Finance Ministry has accepted early this year USD18 million in funding for the RHIA in Beirut to be expanded.

The funding approval comes after witnessing a steady boost in the number of passengers in the airport since 2008.
