    Lebanese minister urges budget raise in medicines costs

    (MENAFN) Lebanon's caretaker Minister of Public Health Ghassan Hasbani has demanded an increase in financing for the expenses of medicines of which the Health Ministry offers to patients suffering incurable diseases.

    The Lebanese minister has made the urge to the government during a news conference on Friday, as reported the National News Agency (NNA).

    The report cited the minister as saying "our capacity of providing medicines to citizens suffering from incurable diseases has decreased due to the absence of a proper budget."

    Hasbani noted "also, member of parliament Eddy Abi Lamaa submitted at the beginning of this week a proposal to the parliament to secure 75 billion Lebanese pounds (50 million U.S. dollars) to cover the cost of medicines."

    He added "we cannot risk the health of patients who rely on the Health Ministry for their medical treatment."
