    Russia, Pakistan ink deal on underwater gas pipeline from Iran

    (MENAFN) Russia was confirmed to have inked a memorandum of understanding with Pakistan on an underwater gas pipeline to be established from Iran to Pakistan and India.

    The news has been announced in a statement issued on Friday by the Russian Energy Ministry, as reported Xinhua.

    The Russian ministry stated "the memorandum provides for the identification of authorized organizations through which the project will be supported, including during the feasibility study, identification of the resource base, configuration and route of the gas pipeline."

    The ministry confirmed the agreement to have been penned by Russian Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky and Pakistani Ministry of Energy Additional Secretary Sher Afgan Khan.

    The Russian minister further added that his country is entitled to notify Iran and India on the signing of the agreement following the likely signing of a similar deal with Iran.
