Iraq, Iran lift 3-year pause on passenger shipping line

(MENAFN) Iraq and Iran were declared to have lifted the halt of the passenger shipping line between them via Shatt al-Arab-Arvand after 3 years.

An Iraqi sea transportation firm carried 46 passengers to be delivered at Khorramshahr following the resumption, Iraq's Ministry of Transport announced.

Iraq is now prepared to commence and continue sea transportation inside and outside the country, Iraqi Transport Minister Kadhim Finjan confirmed in a statement the ministry issue.

Iraq public sea transportation company is also ready to advance advanced boats with the ability to make long as well as short distance trips, the company's head Abdol Karim al-Jaberi stated.

The resumption was assured to be a drive for boosting the tourism sector along with achieving a decline in the over population in Shalamcheh border.
