    USD102m wind power plant launched in Jordan

    (MENAFN) Jordan announced the opening of its new major power plant, established in Tafileh governorate at a worth of USD102 million.

    The wind power plant was launched in a ceremony by Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati.

    The ministry is working on the creation of an energy plan aimed at maintaining pace with development seen in power demand, in line with energy sources diversification and costs cuts purposes, the energy minister stressed.

    The priority Jordan has set, the minister noted, is the supply of energy sources using domestic and eco-friendly resources, as it seeks to guarantee energy security and independence.

    Zawati added that Jordan is eyeing a 10 percent boost to be recorded in renewable energy porofits to total energy mix, by the year 2020.
