Morocco's phone wallet payments to hit USD5.3b in 2023

(MENAFN) Morocco, a central bank official unveiled, is forecast to stand at USD5.3 billion per year in its mobile wallet payments in 2023.

The news was announced in Rabat by head of the central bank's financial payment systems, Asmae Bennani during a press conference.

It comes as Morocco is underway in its preparation for the commencement of a mobile payment service by the end of November this year.

The central bank official explained the new service to be targeting cuts in the money needed for payments.

Bennani added that the planned service also aims to encourage financial inclusion, seeing that the number of Moroccans using phones for payments is on the rise.
