Iraq's Kirkuk to boost oil export to Ceyhan port

(MENAFN) Iraq reached a decision to boost the exports of oil to the Turkish Ceyhan port from its fields in Kirkuk, a northern Iraqi province.

The decision was announced on Wednesday by Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi during a weekly press conference.

The Iraqi prime minister confirmed his country to have already begun its efforts to make its oil exports reach 100,000 barrels per day, from the current 60,000.

The prime minister further hailed the strong relations that have been built up between his government and the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG).

The recovery in the relations comes after they were struck with tensions last year, when an unconstitutional referendum on Kurdish regional independence took place.
