(MENAFN) South Sudan is stepping up its efforts to improve the quality of its livestock resources as it commenced 28 development plans in the field.

It comes as South Sudan set a target to begin exporting livestock products by 2040, stated Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Resources James Janga Duku.

The South Sudanese ministry is willing to allocate USD12.5 million for plans to boost livestock infrastructure, including slaughter houses and laboratories, the minister confirmed during an interview with Xinhua.

Duku stated: "we have developed a plan that by 2040, we should be able to be confident that South Sudan will export if we can implement the programs."
