    Tunisia seeks 30 percent jump in phosphate capacity

    (MENAFN) Tunisia is seeking to record a boost in the annual output of its phosphate by 30 percent next year.

    The Tunisian government decided to spend USD50 million in the growth of the country's phosphate sector along with reaching out to foreign currency reserves, while it aims to produce 5 million tons of phosphate by 2019.

    By the year's end, Tunisia's phosphate capacity is doubtful to go beyond 4 million tons, expected to account for 50 percent of the production seen in 2010.

    The country is looking through its plans to back its phosphate capacity, along with achieving the ability to enter lost markets.
