Oman to grant 6 oil blocks for private sector

(MENAFN) Oman is expected to grant six oil blocks to the private sector by the first quarter of next year, aiming to achieve growth in the sector.

The news was confirmed by director general of planning and studies at the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Dr Saleh bin Ali al Anboori, during a panel discussion held on Sunday.

The senior official stated that Oman already enjoys an effective framework to attract investments in the exploration and production of hydrocarbon.

Anboori noted: "the country's attractiveness can be gauged by the fact that in the year 2000 just 17 concession blocks were presented to the private players, but in 2018 total number of blocks given to private players have risen to 29."

He further added that "the sultanate will present another six concession blocks to the private players in the first quarter of 2019."
