    Dubai's RTA to set up solar-powered bus shelters

    (MENAFN) The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai was declared to be launching a pilot initiative, looking to establish bus shelters powered by the sun.

    The RTA was confirmed to have already launched its establishment work of a model for a couple of solar-powered bus shelters.

    The purpose behind the project was explained to be seeking out a solution for shelters placed off the electric power grid.

    RTA director-general and chairman Mattar Al Tayer unveiled the project to be targeting the operation of lights, air-conditioners and billboards.

    The chief noted "the Air-Conditioned Bus Shelters Project is part of RTA's continuous efforts to enhance excellence and leadership drive through undertaking flagship projects in Dubai."

    Al Tayer added "it is also part of a master plan for improving public transport, and providing smooth services to bus riders, especially during the blazing summer."
