Iran jumps 56 percent in tourism arrivals

(MENAFN) Iran recorded a 56 percent surge in the number of its tourists during the first ten months of the Iranian fiscal year.

Flourishing tourism in Iran was driven by the fall in the value of the Iranian currency which caused price to fall, thus making visiting cheap.

The statement was made by Leyla Azhdari, an official of the Cultural Heritage, Handcraft and Tourism Organization, during an interview with ISNA.

According to the official, "the visit of foreign nationals and tourists to Iran has increased by 56 percent comparing to the same period last year."

Azhdari further added that Iran so far welcomed more than 2.2 million visitors from Iraq, placing it at the top of tourism sources.
