Algeria, Tunisia to remove fees on mobile network roaming

(MENAFN) Algeria and Tunisia reached an agreement on Sunday for their tariffs on mobile network roaming to be lifted.

Algerian Minister of Post and ICT Houda-Imane Feraoun made the announcement on the sidelines of the 3rd Joint Technical Committee for Cooperation in Post and ICT.

Speaking alongside Tunisian counterpart Maarouf Anwar, the Algerian minister unveiled: "we have decided to encourage regulatory authorities of both countries."

Feraoun explained that the decision was made "to ensure their trade is transparent to customers traveling on both sides of the border without having to pay more fees for roaming and without being forced to make any changes on their phones."

Meanwhile, Anwar highlighted the existing "common will" for the fees to be removed through the set up of the One Network Area to "allow citizens on both sides of the border to feel at home."
