    Lebanese central bank allocates USD200m for housing loans

    (MENAFN) The Lebanese Central Bank was announced to have set aside USD200 million to spend on subsidized housing loans this year.

    Lebanon's Central Bank will be granting the allocated amount in a 20-year period, setting 5.92 percent as the interest rate for the loans.

    It comes in comparison to the previous housing loans of which were set at a 3.75 percent interest loan with a period of 30 years.

    The central bank grants housing loans more often than not via the Public Corporation for Housing and the Housing Bank.

    It allocated USD500 million to commercial banks in February last year for Lebanese people to be able to purchase apartments.
