    Oman forecast for 8 percent boost in IT sector

    (MENAFN) Oman is forecast to yield USD378 million in its IT sector to mark an 8 percent boost over the next two years as the country moves forward with a national digitization plan.

    Industry experts revealed the figures based on BMI Research data during Comex Oman which was launched in Muscat on Sunday and is to wrap up on Tuesday.

    SAP, an international firm, is backing Oman Vision 2040 of which the nationwide digitization comes under it.

    SAP Oman managing director Waheed Al Hamaid affirmed that "Oman Vision 2040 and strong IT growth show that Oman's leaders are leading the Sultanate in driving innovation to foster diversified economic growth and job creation in the Digital Economy."

    Al Hamaid added "Oman can see the biggest benefit in moving from e-government to digitizing the whole-of-government, with cross-collaboration and AI predicting citizen needs in real-time."
