Tunisia signs USD399.6m loans with 12 banks

(MENAFN) The Tunisian Finance Ministry was announced to have borrowed USD399.6 million from a total of 12 local banks with an aim to fund its state budget.

Finance Minister Ridha Chalghoum penned a syndicated loan deal for the amount with managers of twelve banks.

Marouen Abassi, Tunisia's central bank governor, expressed wishes for the economy in the country to witness development while hoping to spur investments.

Investments, Abassi assured, would stimulate production and guarantee liquidity in foreign exchange and in the Tunisian currency.

Economic and financial expert Ezzeddine Saidan suggested that the loan agreement would strengthen the deteriorated economy as it struggles with a lack of resources.
