    Morocco hits USD3b in Feb trade deficit

    (MENAFN) Morocco hit USD3 billion in its trade deficit for February to mark a 10.6 percent boost despite a drop in imports and surge in exports.

    Imports in Morocco fell 2.4 percent by the end of February compared to a year ago, while exports registered a 3.5 percent jump.

    Exports generated roughly USD4.9 billion during the month with imports earning USD7.9 billion, the foreign exchange regulator confirmed.

    Energy imports posted an 8.7 percent decline, while equipment imports dropped 11.3 percent with raw material imports witnessing a 5.1 percent boost and wheat imports raising 4.2 percent.

    Phosphate exports jumped 13.7 percent while agriculture exports increased 2.7 percent and car industry exports 1.9 percent.
