Iraq granted U.S. waiver for Iranian gas

(MENAFN) Iraq was granted permission from the United States to keep on receiving Iranian gas for its power grid for an extra three-month period.

A couple of government sources revealed that the U.S. renewed Iraq's exemption to its sanctions against Iran amid growing tensions.

Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi has been given the waiver while speaking to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a phone conversation, a source unveiled.

Last year, the U.S. presented Iraqi with an exemption for 45 days on Iranian gas when it re-imposed sanctions against the oil sector of the Islamic Republic.
