    S. Sudan suspends dealing in Kenyan currency until Oct

(MENAFN) Each commercial bank in South Sudan will stop dealing in Kenyan currency until October 2019 under an order the central bank issued as per request of the Kenyan central bank.

The purpose of this move is tackling illegal financial flows as well as unlawful counterfeit, as the Bank of South Sudan (BOSS) explained.

BOSS banking supervision, research and statistics director general Makur Deng stated: "the Central Bank of Kenya has informed us that it has started issuance of a new series of Kenyan shillings banknotes."

Deng further added that "the measure is partly intended to combat the emerging concerns of illicit financial flows and counterfeits."
