    5.4 percent boost in Egyptian Suez Canal revenues

    (MENAFN) Egypt broke an all-time high record in revenues of its Suez Canal during the 2018-19 fiscal year to stand at USD5.9 billion.

    Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish confirmed: "the canal made 5.9 billion U.S. dollars in fiscal year of 2018-2019 with 300 million dollars or 5.4 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year, which starts in Egypt in July and ends in June."

    By August 2nd, the traffic passing through the Suez Canal also hit the highest level ever to see 81 ships with 6.1 million tons of load passing through the canal, the chairman revealed.

    Mamish also announced that the canal is currently prepared to take delivery of the biggest ship ever that carries 23,000 containers, Megamax 24.
