    Kuwait's tourism revenues surge 69 percent in H1-19

    (MENAFN) A survey by Mubasher shows that Kuwait has accomplished a 69.4percent jump in tourism returns during the first half (H1) of the year.

    Tourism revenues reached to USD357.48 million in the six-month period ended 30 June, compared with USD211.06 million in H1-18.

    According to data by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK), the first quarter (Q1) of 2019 saw tourism revenues reach USD 175.18million, while returns in Q2-19 amounted to USD 181.76 million in Q1-19.

    Data recently showed that Kuwaitis have spent 31.38percent more on tourism abroad during H1-19.

    Spending on tourism reached USD9.304 billion by the end of H1-19, compared with USD7.082 billion for the same period last year, and distributed over Q1-19 and Q2-19 at USD 4.74 billion and 4.53 billion, respectively.

    In 2018, spending on tourism abroad by Kuwaiti nationals amounted to USD 13.27 billion, rising by 17.6percent, compared with USD 11.29 billion in 2017.
