Interest rate to be reduced by Lebanon's Central Bank

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Lebanon's Central Bank demanded banks to decrease the interest rates to 5 percent and 8.5 percent respectively on deposits in USD and Lebanese pound.

As said in a statement by Banque Du Liban, the latest interest rates on deposits affect new and renewed deposits from Wednesday.

The central bank earlier improved interest rates to attract dollar deposits.

This pushes people to save their money in banks rather than making investments, which would lead to a hold up in economic improvement, the economic experts criticized saying.
