    Iran predicts 10 percent increase in yearly tea production

    (MENAFN)



    Habib Jahansaz, Head of Iran's Tea Organization (ITO), said that Iran estimates its tea output to increase 10 percent in the ongoing Iranian calendar year that started on the 20th of March.

    The official said that tea leaves valued at USD56.19 million and weighted at 53,251 tons have been bought from the farmers in the country in the provinces of Mazandaran and Gilan.

    He also said that a total of USD18.16 million was paid to farmers so far, equalling 32 percent of their total payment.

    Adding that 75 percent of the payment to the tea farmers is going to be done by the tea factories and the remaining 25 percent is going to be proivded by the government.
