    August Sales Rise up in Turkey

    (MENAFN) Official figures reported on Tuesday, October 13th, show a stable increase of 5.8 percent in Turkey's retail sales, year-on-year in August.

    The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced that the highest annual increase after automotive fuel was achieved by non-food items with 7.2 percent. Even though the food-drink-tobacco sales rose by 5.2 percent, meanwhile automotive fuel sales rose by 3.3 percent in August.

    Upon comparing non-food industries, the biggest increase could be noted in electronics, and furniture sales with 19 percent, while computers, books, and telecommunication gear sales rose by 16.8 percent. Moreover, medical products, and cosmetics sales increased by 11 percent in August, yearly.

    On the other hand, textile, footwear and clothing sales decreased by 17.7 percent that same month.
