    Tourism in Turkey picks up

    (MENAFN) Turkey's Culture and Tourism Ministry released on Friday, October 30th, that almost 9.46 million foreign travelers entered the country since the start of the year till September.

    The ministry said that according to data, the figure represents a 74 percent decrease compared to the usual annual average, they attribute this to lockdowns and travel restrictions worldwide that were caused by Covid-19 outbreak.

    Reports show that within the last two months, August and September, 4 million foreign travelers came to Turkey which is an improvement from April and May where only 50,000 visitors entered the country.

    Within that same time period, Istanbul continued to be Turkey's top tourist attraction, where 38.28 percent of the travelers, which is almost 3.6 million individuals headed to Istanbul. Meanwhile, Antalya was the second tourist attraction with 25.56 percent, which is more than 2.4 million foreigners.
