Turkey continues to boycott French products

(MENAFN) The Turkish business community has embraced boycotting French goods following the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's encouragement on the matter, his call came after the French President spoke badly of Islam and Muslims, allowing offensive cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad be published, and seemed to endorse Islamophobia.

The French President, Emmanuel Macron, stated that Islam is a religion "in crisis" and declared that he has plans to implement harsh laws on what he referred to as "Islamist separatism."

Many Arab countries, including Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan, have criticized Macron's attitude toward Muslims and Islam and have began to boycott French products.

Abdurrahman Kaan, the head of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen Association (MUSIAD) said: "This separatist attitude, which is hurtful, based on ignorance and raising the Islamophobia, is absolutely unacceptable," adding, "We declare that we stand behind the rightful and appropriate reaction of our president in this regard."
