    Mapna Drilling, Petropars ink contract to start rig operations in S. Pars phase 11

    (MENAFN) An offshore drilling rig owned by Iran"s Mapna Drilling Company is transported en route for the Iran-Qatar territorial waters in the Persian Gulf to begin drilling procedures in South Pars Phase 11, according to Managing Director of the company.

    A number of 12 wells will be drilled in the mentioned phase in accordance to an agreement that has been inked between Mapna Drilling and Petropars, which is in charge of developing Phase 11 of the giant gas field, according to the director, Fazel Jamalzadeh.

    He further included that the drilling operations will be conducted in two phases.
    According to the official, "In the first stage five wells including one vertical and four horizontal wells will be drilled for the platform SPD-11B of this phase and after the installation of the topside, seven more wells will be drilled in the second stage."

    Jamalzadeh highlighted that local experts and engineers will carry out the engineering and technical monitoring and supervision of all the mentioned operations .
