Lebanon: Prime Minister encourages central bank to cooperate with audit

(MENAFN) Lebanon's Prime Minister Hassan Diab encouraged the central bank, on Tuesday, 3rd of November, to cooperate with the forensic audit, which was requested by global creditors, and give them missing documents that they need to continue their process.

The country has been experiencing its worst economic crisis in years, which led the government to try and reform Lebanon and improve the economical situation that is why in September, New York based company Alvarez and Marsal started a forensic audit of the Bank of Lebanon.

A source at the ministry of finance stated that the company appointed the 3rd of November as a deadline for the bank to when they should offer all the data required to continue the audit.
However, the central bank hasn't even given access to half of the records needed to carry on with the review.

"Today what is needed is for the Bank of Lebanon to give the forensic audit firm the documents and information it has requested, so that this audit can start to uncover the financial facts and causes of this collapse," Diab announced.
