Iran: reduction of chicken exports to sustain local need

    (MENAFN)

Starting the present Iranian calendar month of Aban (October 22), the new order has been put into practice in cooperation with the Agriculture Ministry and will be operative pending further assessments.

The Islamic Republic of Iran (IRICA) provisionally decreased the responsibility for chicken exports from June 9 up until July 20 because of the overproduction of chicken previously this year to support the exports of the stated product.

The drift of most of Iran's production to overseas export destinations was the outcome of the decrease of the duty on the poultry products, and thus the prices in the local market rose considerably.

With Iranian poultry farmers having the ability to increase exports to reach 500,000 tons of meat per year, Iran could be a major poultry producer, regionally and internationally, nevertheless, exterior influences like the U.S. sanctions and the lack of feed stay an unbeatable problem on this path.
