Iran accomplishes significant progress in energy sector

(MENAFN) Ranyan Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that despite all strategic and economic difficulties, the Iranian energy sector has achieved major accomplishments, Shana reported.

Speaking at Thursday's 22nd annual ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which was hosted via conference call, Zanganeh mentioned that the unjustified U.S. sanctions have forbidden Iran from accessing oil profits of billions of dollars.

The withdrawal of the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the illegal imposition of unilateral economic sanctions on Iran, Zanganeh said, were nothing but aggressive behavior against Iran and the international community, adding that "U.S. sanctions on Iran violate the specific policies of many countries in the international community but they cannot do anything about it only because the U.S. is dominating the global financial and banking system."

The complete withdrawal of many treaties and agreements by the United States, such as the JCPOA, which resulted from years of bilateral trade, reflects a fundamental change in international relations, he said.

He further stressed that, "Despite all these challenges, we have made significant progress in the energy sector; by relying on our human resources, technology and investment, we have achieved the sustainable production of one billion cubic meters of gas per day."
