PGSR expected to play major role in turning Iran into gasoline exporter

(MENAFN) Persian Gulf Star Refinery in the southern province of Hormozgan, Iran, is way ahead of its time to be developed on the basis of gas condensate feedstock obtained from the South Pars gas field, which Iran holds with Qatar in the Persian Gulf.
Construction of the refinery started in 2006, but the project was delayed as the result of some mismanagement and also financial limitation due to the West-led sanctions against Iran.

As the biggest associated gas processing plant in West Asia, PGSR is expected to play a major role in turning Iran into a gasoline exporter.

The factory has boosted Iran's gasoline output to 110 million liters per day while the nation's demand is 74 million liters.

PGSR has made Iran autonomous in the manufacture of gasoline, while the exporter of the product has been a significant step towards the nullification of US sanctions.
