Turkish FM announces USD 232b as C. gov't gross debt

(MENAFN) As of Oct. 31 this year the total debt stock of Turkey's central government accumulated to 1.9 trillion Turkish liras (around USD 232 billion).

As opposed to the same time last year the October figure grew by 53.4 percent, data from the Treasury and Finance Ministry showed on Friday.

Outstanding debt of public sector institutions, the Central Bank, private companies and households is included in the gross debt portfolio.

The ministry said that some 41.7 percent of the debt stock is denominated in local currency, while the remainder is in foreign currency.

Although the debt of 1.1 trillion Turkish liras (USD 132.9 billion) was domestic, it added that some 826.3 billion liras ($99.1 billion) was foreign.
