Iran: Trade with China hits USD11.19b

(MENAFN) Statistics issued by the General Administration of Customs of the People"s Republic of China revealed that Iran-China commerce in the January-September period of last year surpassed USD18.17 billion.

Both China's exports to and imports from Iran have dropped in the first nine months of the current year, but the drop in Chinese imports from Iran has been much bigger than China's exports to Iran, according to the statistics.

Iran and China have had a long history of cultural, political, and economic swaps alongside the Silk Road since no less than 200 BC, and perhaps earlier. To this day, China and Iran have expanded a gracious financial and strategic corporation.

Nevertheless, in the current year, the commerce between the two states witnessed a major drop mostly because of the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and also the U.S. restrictions on Iran"s oil sector.
