    In major milestone, Turkey's 1st cargo train reaches China

    (MENAFN) According to a statement released by the Turkish transport and infrastructure minister, the first train loaded by goods from Turkey to China reached its last stop on Saturday.

    Adil Karaismailoglu said in a tweet, ''Announcing Turkey"s power in logistics to the world from every city it passed through, the China Export Train is our victory in rail transport."

    The train hit the road from Istanbul as of Dec. 4 and covered a distance of 8,693 kilometers (more than 5,400 miles) through Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea, and Kazakhstan to reach China"s Xi"an city.

    In its part, Turkey"s Foreign Ministry stated that the train followed the Trans Caspian East-West Middle Corridor via Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
