    Iran, Turkey ink memorandum of understanding on security matters

    (MENAFN)According to Iran's PressTV, Iran's Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi gathered with his Turkish counterpart, Suleyman Soylu, in Tehran and inked a memorandum of understanding on security matter.

    After the meeting, the press quoted Vahidi as saying that "We had very good discussions, the relations between the two countries are very strong and deep."

    He further declared that both ministers tackled several issues including the fight against terrorism, international crime, and arms smuggling, in addition to cross-border exchanges and activities, and the possibilities of further joint cooperation in all fields including migration control.

    Soylu called ties between Turkey and Iran as "not only diplomatic, but friendly and brotherly."

    The official also stated that Iran and Turkey insisted to fight illegal migrations, namely after the situation created in Afghanistan by the hasty withdrawal of U.S. and NATO forces.
