Foreign minister: Egypt shows high determination in solving global climate change problems
(MENAFN) Vital global movement to fight climate change is required, and Egypt is going to put in all its effort in leading the charge, the nation’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stated at the UN Climate Change Conference, recognized as COP27, in Sharm el-Sheikh.
He asserted that COP27 shows the world Egypt's promise to deal with climate change as well as its competence as a worldwide host, in addition to that the contribution numbers indicate the honest global determination to resolve the climate change catastrophe.
“The pattern that humanity has followed since the beginning of the industrial revolution until today is no longer sustainable,” Shoukry asserted.
“We are facing huge gaps in global warming, and the global climate situation requires fundamental change. We still face gaps in providing the financing needed to enable developing countries to face climate change,” he also mentioned.
“This creates for the first time an institutionally stable space on the formal agenda of COP and the Paris Agreement to discuss the pressing issue of funding arrangements needed to deal with existing gaps, responding to loss and damage,” Shoukry who took control as the fresh COP27 leader informed the opening plenary.
