    Export, import of commodities in ports surges 5.7 percent in 9 months YoY

    (MENAFN) The import and export of commodities in the ports of Iran surged by 5.7 percent in the opening nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21), in comparison with the same span of time in the last year, chief of the nation’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) declared.

    While giving a speech in a press meeting on the offshoots of the sixth Exhibition of Transportation, Logistics, and associated Industries, Ali-Akbar Safaei mentioned that throughout the stated time span 156.714 million tons of goods have been imported and exported at ports.

    According to reports by the PMO portal, in the mentioned nine months, loading and unloading efforts in the container industry amounted to 1.835 million TEUs, of which 995,000 TEUs was the stake of loading and 845,000 TEUs was associated to unloading.

    The loading and unloading of container cargo surged by six percent as well as 8.4 percent, individually, in comparison with the number for the prior year’s same time span, the official stated.
